With special tips

They have a unique and specific tip instead of the common tip found on conventional fasteners. These tips can be self-drilling, needle, self-tapping, among others. They are used in special applications to allow drilling and tapping of the materials they are working with, without the need to use a drill bit or drill a hole beforehand. Special point screws are common in the construction, carpentry and metallurgical industries.
